And this is America today.

No matter how long you look at it, can you ever get used to it?

President Barack Obama, one of the finest men we’ve ever had serve and lead this country, yesterday welcomed into the White House a former reality star turned fascist figurehead.

Donald Trump spent the last eight years serving as the de facto leader of the racist birther movement, demanding Obama’s birth certificate and screaming to the high winds that he was ineligible and unfit to serve as commander-in-chief. Trump has vowed to scrub all of Obama’s accomplishments, starting with the affordable care act.

Obama, yesterday, treated the visit from the president-elect like an interlude with another distinguished dignitary and not someone who should be frisked for condiment packets nicked out of the White House kitchen.

With the orange roid next to him, he told the press that they had had a pleasant, productive conversation, and that he and his administration would do everything “to help you succeed because if you succeed, then the country succeeds.”

I miss Key & Peele.

I can imagine their Obama Anger Translator might have something to say, like, “Can you fucking believe this? I spent my life in public service and give eight years to this damn country and this is the idiot they choose to replace me? If he hadn’t been born to money, he’d be handing me my fries in the drive-thru window. Goddamn, I can’t wait until January when I get to blow this shit show and Michelle and I jet the girls to New Zealand before this fool turns the country into a theme park for Putin.”

But that’s just me.

Did you catch Hillary Clinton’s concession speech? She wished Trump well and said, “Our constitutional democracy enshrines the peaceful transfer of power and we don’t just respect that, we cherish it.”

She exhorted her followers to continue the Good Fight, for the values that are important to them.

She turned her defeat into one of her finest moments.

Now pretend just for a minute that the circumstances were reversed, that Trump had won the popular vote (as Clinton did) but lost the electoral college. Can you imagine Trump delivering such a gracious speech?

Of course you can’t, because to imagine that rabid reptile putting the country first above his own ginormous ego, you’d have to have an imagination bigger than the solar system and then your head would explode all “Scanners”-like from the stress.

He’d be screaming how the election was rigged and calling for protests to take the White House. Think I’m exaggerating? It’s just what he did on Twitter in 2012, when Obama won re-election.

He took to Twitter today to complain about, umm, democracy.

This has to fall under the category of a Sore Winner.

I suppose that White House visit could have been more awkward.

Michelle Obama could have been forced to make nice with Melania Trump, the woman who lifted her speech for the Republican National Convention.

Oh, Christ.
