If you ever wonder what this country will look like if Republicans win the White House in 2024, look no further than Florida.
Under Gov. Ron DeSantis, the “Sunshine State” has earned a new nickname: “The Hate State.”
DeSantis, trying to pave the way for his own presidential run and backed by a Republican supermajority that knows no shame, has passed a series of measures more befitting a banana republic.
He’s banned abortion, books, and health care for trans people.
He even approved a bill in which health care workers can now refuse care to patients whose lives violate their beliefs.
It’s aimed at the LGBTQ community, DeSantis’ favorite target.
Imagine an EMT coming across a car accident and discovering the injured were a married lesbian couple.
Under this law, he can walk away, with no repercussions.
It’s the kind of law no sane health care worker would ask for.
People will be hurt because of this law.
People will die because of this law.
It’s a mystery why so many Floridians back the petty pissant.
His war with Disney will cost the state millions.
Because Disney had the temerity to object to DeSantis’ “Don’t Say Gay” measure, DeSantis has done everything he can to break the company.

Republican’s allegedly are the party of big business, and yet here we have one of the leading presidential contenders going to war with the state’s largest employer, responsible for generating millions in tax revenue.
You would think somebody would say, hey, maybe this isn’t a great idea?
Especially since Disney has more money than God and more lawyers at its beck than the beaches have sand.
DeSantis also signed a bill blocking Florida public colleges from funding diversity programs and discussing race.
We’ve now gone from “Don’t Say Gay” to “Don’t Say Black.”
In Florida, the hatred is the point.
It’s utterly depressing, and incredible it’s actually happening in America.
This is the America the Republican party wants.
Take a moment to at least enjoy Randy Rainbow ripping Meatball Ron a new one.
Let’s laugh while we can.
Oh, man, I read this on the BBC a couple of days ago. I worry about America as a whole, to be honest, as the divisions between groups of A or B (whether they be religious, political, ethnic, or whatever) seem to be widening with no real hope of a middle ground being found.
I hope you and yours can see some light at the end of the tunnel, Mark, because I’m not sure I can.
Still, there’s always the brilliant Randy Rainbow. 😀
