Meatball Ron is doing it again.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, America’s Republican fascist frontrunner, has instituted educational guidelines in his toilet of a state that require educators to talk about the “personal benefit” of slavery to the enslaved.

When pressed by reporters, DeSantis sputtered, “They’re probably going to show that some of the folks that eventually parlayed, you know, being a blacksmith into doing things later in life.”

That’s a generous assumption, that slaves got enjoy “doing things later in life” when hundreds of thousands did not and were owned from birth to death.

But why argue facts with this profoundly stupid wannabe tyrant?

Slavery was not an unpaid internship.

Slaves were treated like beasts of burden. Everything they did, everything they produced, was for the benefit of their owners. Slaves had no rights to even their own children.

Slavery was evil and inhumane and a stain on this country’s history that has yet to be fully accounted for.

But DeSantis is determined to change that view.

The curriculum change is a result of his “Stop WOKE Act” that he signed into law last year. It prohibits the teaching of anything in the public schools that makes children feel “shamed because of their race.”

If the children in Germany can learn about the horrors of the Holocaust, as they are required to do, our own little darlings can learn about our own failings as a country.

The hope is that they will become better citizens.

They can’t do that if they are denied basic facts.
