Ole Yamtits’ war on Harvard took another turn late last week:
Administration officials stated the letter demanding that Harvard cede control of its hiring, admissions, and curriculum was actually a draft that was accidentally sent and that Harvard should have known that, and Harvard blew it big time by making the entire kerfuffle public.
Does this letter look like a draft to you?
It’s literally signed by three officials of the Orange Dodo’s administration.
An unnamed member of the administration complained to the New York Times that Harvard went on a victimhood campaign after getting the letter.
Don’t you just hate it when folks won’t be quiet about being harassed?
How dare Harvard go public with a letter from the numb-nut who had to pay out $25 million to settle lawsuits after the university named after him proved to be a fraud?
This isn’t some Ivy League-level of gaslighting.
It’s just the usual fuckery of an administration that is wholly unprepared for resistance.
The Bloated Turd isn’t used to anyone saying no to him. His declaration of war made Harvard the underdog in the public’s eye in perhaps the first time in at least a good two hundred years or so.
And here’s why we know it’s just another lie from an administration whose only talent is lying:
After Harvard utterly refused the demand letter, the Bronze Chimp suspended $2.2 billion dollars in research grants. He sicced the IRS on Harvard, to investigate revoking the university’s tax-exempt status. His Homeland Security office threatened to bar Harvard from enrolling international students.
This was no draft. They just weren’t prepared for the blowback.
Even conservative outlets like the Wall Street Journal condemned the power grab.
Harvard is averaging 88 online donations per hour in the wake of the assault on its independence. Alumni are pissed. Everyone should be pissed at the thought of the government taking over a private university.
The Big Ten universities have formed a Mutual Defense Pact to protect themselves in case Cheeto veers his decrepit head in their direction. Think of it as NATO for higher ed.
That’s smart. The war on higher education is just beginning. The forces behind MAGA view higher education as a threat to their power because it teaches critical thinking skills. Those who question are less likely to adhere to blind obedience.
Higher education cannot back down, it cannot concede an inch.
Appeasement never works with a bully. They don’t leave you alone. They always come back for more.
This war with Harvard came just days before the 250th anniversary of Paul Revere’s historic ride through Boston.
In a re-enactment Friday night, here’s how Boston’s Old North Church looked.
I’ve never been prouder to be a Harvard grad or a Massachusetts resident.
