Beware, Evildoers! Batman is - wait. Did he just wink at me?

“The LEGO Batman Movie” deserves to win the Best Picture Oscar.

No, “The LEGO Batman Movie” deserves to win all the Oscars.

Sure, the film doesn’t hit theaters until Feb. 10, but I am confident it is the best film either you or I will ever see in our lifetimes.

Meet the Ant-Man! Not him. No, not the other one. DC’s Ant-Man!

The Ant-Man strikes
What lies beneath the mask of the pint-sized peril?

He’s the mighty mite, a six-inch dynamo with the weight and density of a full-grown man, the small scourge of crime everywhere.

He’s …. the Ant-Man!

You’re probably thinking of Marvel Comics’ Hank Pym right about now.

No, it’s not him.

Or maybe you’re guessing it must be his successor, Scott Lang, who recently received the big-screen treatment and was hilarious.

Sorry. This is DC’s Ant-Man – a character who made but one appearance in “Batman” No. 156, cover date June 1963.

When Batman Faced his Greatest Fear

"Robin Dies at Dawn" - and the unforgettable cover to "Batman" No. 156.
“Robin Dies at Dawn” – and the unforgettable cover to “Batman” No. 156.

My favorite era in “Batman” comics – actually all of DC – is the late ’50s and early ’60s.

Oh, these weren’t the comics I grew up with.

By the time I came along, Batman was already years into his “New Look” – the artistic reboot that pushed for realism, jettisoned most of the Bat-Family and made for a dull crime-fighter.

Over the years, I have gone back and tried to collect as much as I can – not much, all things considered – of “Batman,” “Detective Comics” and “World’s Finest” during this era.

The stories are just so much fun.

Many comics fans – and certainly DC itself – disagree.

‘Batman v Superman’: Dawn of the Dimwits

The gang is all here: 'Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.'
The gang is all here: ‘Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.’

In Warner Bros.’ “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” DC Comics’ two greatest titans go mano-a-mano.

The loser: Audiences.

Warning: There be spoilers. If you haven’t seen the film – and I encourage you to wait until it’s on TNT some Sunday morning next year – tread at your risk.

Superman & Batman: The Original Super-Friends

'Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice'
‘Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice’

The world waits with bated breath for the opening of “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” on March 25.

The Dark Knight meets the Man of Steel for the first time in a live-action film, and it looks to be a brawl for the ages.

And that got me thinking. How did the comics – you know, the source material for just about every blockbuster film keeping the major studios afloat these days – handle the first meeting of DC’s greatest titans?

What threat could possibly be dire enough to bring the two champions of justice together?

The Anti-Monitor? Darkseid? The Joker and Lex Luthor together?

Would you believe … a cruise ship vacation?
