It is the single greatest heist in the history of this nation – from the poor and the working to the wealthy.

The tax bill the Republican-controlled Congress approved yesterday will add over a trillion to the national debt.

It will raise taxes on 92 million Americans.

Over 80 percent of the benefits go to the top 1 percent of the country.

And now that they have finally handed Trump his first legislative victory in his first year, what is this Gang of Thieves going to do next?

Dear President Obama,

As a child of the ’60s, I’ve seen my share of presidents – some good, some bad, some well-meaning, some corrupt.

Like many of my generation, I have a cynical view of politicians. The word seems to suggest, if not a charlatan, then certainly an opportunist.

You changed that and more.

When you became the 44th president of the United States in 2009, you inherited an economy in crisis and a country fighting two wars in the Middle East.

As the first African-American leader of the free world, you faced unparalleled opposition from Republicans, who vowed to thwart your every initiative even before you took the oath of office.

Election ’16: When the Circus Stops, We’re Screwed

Say you’re the parent of a fourth grader curious about the presidential campaign. It’s only the election of the next leader of the greatest country in the world.

Your wee one wants to know everything about the political process, how the primaries work, how the two major parties function, even the purpose of the electoral college.

All those things can be explained – perhaps with some difficulty, but still.

But what the heck do you say about the behavior of those running for only the most important job on the planet?
