Those fabulous freaks are back.
DC Universe’s “Doom Patrol” – starring the most unlikely heroes of all time – returns for a second season, this time on HBO MAX.
From the fresh trailer, it seems our misfits will be adjusting to their powers and to each other as a team – and just in time, as the Chief’s (Timothy Dalton) reality-bending daughter Dorothy is about to take them on a walk down one twisted road.

To Celebrate the ‘Doom Patrol’ TV Show, Let’s Revisit a Silver Age Classic
If you had to guess what DC property would go on to get its own TV show, “Doom Patrol” would probably be waaaaaay down the list, just past “Prez” and “Sugar & Spike.”
Yet here we are: DC Universe, Warner Bros.’ streaming service for all things DC, launched the TV show earlier this month, and after just the first two episodes, I’m impressed. It stars Brendan Fraser as Robotman and Matt Bomer as Negative Man. It leans heavily into the Grant Morrison run, probably the title’s artistic zenith, but it also keeps elements of the original, most notably, the wonderful Rita Farr, Elasti-Woman.
Cyborg is also in it.

DC Gets its Freak on with the Doom Patrol
Like many fabulous things, the Doom Patrol was born out of desperation.
It was late 1962, and DC’s “My Greatest Adventure” faced cancellation.
Started in 1955, “My Greatest Adventure” was one of DC’s many anthology books that ran amok with weird sci-fi tales, such as “I Was the Hunted Man-Bird of Mystery Mesa!” (in issue No. 75) and “Cure Our Robot Ruler – or Die” (in issue No. 77).
Gee, you’d think with stories like that, the comics would be flying off the shelves.
